The Violence Against Women Act, a U.S. federal law that funds programs to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Key provisions include offering protections for survivors in housing assistance programs and providing a way for immigrant victims of abuse to self-petition for a green card without the abuser's knowledge. The act applies to all genders, not just women.
Our mission is to empower immigrant survivors of abuse to rebuild their lives with confidence, healing, and independence.
Through education, emotional support, and community connection, the VAWA Community provides a safe space where members can learn about their rights, and receive encouragement every step of the way.
A world where every immigrant survivor has access to safe guidance, compassionate resources, and the opportunity to create a new beginning free from fear and full of purpose.
Before I joined the VAWA Community, I felt completely lost. I didn’t understand the process or know who to trust. The information here gave me the clarity I needed, and the emotional support helped me believe in myself again. I’m finally starting to rebuild my life.
The VAWA Community gave me more than information it gave me hope. Every live session reminded me that I’m not alone and that my story matters. I’m now waiting for my work permit and, for the first time, I feel peace.
I thought VAWA was only for women with police reports, but I learned that emotional abuse also counts. The support here opened my eyes and gave me hope. I’m so grateful for this information — it changed my life
When I came to the U.S., I didn’t know about VAWA. I stayed in a bad situation because I was afraid. This community taught me my rights and helped me understand that I deserve peace. Now I’m waiting for my work permit and rebuilding my life
The VAWA Community made me feel safe. Every post, every live session reminded me that I’m not alone. I used to cry every night, but now I’m looking forward to my future. This group gave me hope again.
I found the VAWA Community through Facebook and it changed everything. I learned step-by-step what to do, how to stay calm, and where to find emotional help. The support from Jenae and the group made me feel seen and heard
